2008: Site Update History

Only three updates in total. The least number of annual site updates thus far in PSO Archive's brief recorded (and unrecorded) history. And look at that, began working on this history section fully fifteen months ago, that's some serious procrastination there folks!

Announcements:

It was only a month ago that the last picture index was added but, behold!, Index #14 has been added! Yet, fifty more pictures for your viewing enjoyment!

Next update to come very soon. Working on adding a section containing the site's past updates.
All official PSO: BB servers are scheduled to go offline on March 31st. Sadly, unless you had already previously been a registered user before December of 2007 you can not play on the official servers during these last days. This closure has a two-fold reason. The first reason is to try and get more players to subscribe to playing the PSU games online and the second reason is due to Sega cutting back on their web presence. Also, scheduled to happen on March 31st, Sega Direct, Sega of Japan's online store, will be closing down after many years of business.
Notice to everyone: If you send me an e-mail please put "PSO" in the subject line. This way you're e-mail won't accidently get deleted or sent to the Bulk Mail folder.

Where to begin? Been several months since the site has been updated. Tragically two major setbacks have struck PSO Archive. The first setback was in October when SegaForums, our webshost, was hit by a series of hacker attacks which wiped out PSO Archive. Took a few weeks to get everything uploaded again, and even now there are things left to be fixed.

Second setback ocurred today. Spam bot took out the Guest Book database. My sincerest apologies to everyone who signed it within the last three years. I failed to remember to backup the guestbook database, hence why it now is back to where it was three years ago.

Lots of fresh PSO news to come in the coming update, but for now please pardon the mess as PSO Archive is being restored to its former glory.

Announcements:

All aspects of the site have now been restored except for a few minor issue to work out in the Museum sections. Unable to recover the lost Guestbook entries that were made in the last twelve months, spam bots are evil.

PS0 Logo

So, for the obvious big news. Japanese gamers are getting a great present this year, as Sega will be releasing Phantasy Star 0 (that's a zero) for the Nintendo DS on Christmas day, December 25th. PS0 already appears to have a great deal in common with PSO. Gameplay greatly resembles that found in PSO, which isn't all too surprising considering the development team behind PS0 is headed up by people who were part of the original Sonic Team group responsible for creating PSO.

Furthermore, the cutscenes for PS0 were contracted out and done by none other than the all ready wildly famous Gonzo Animation Studios, popular for great anime series such as Last Exile and Samurai 7. This alone has already sparked a heavily fueled flame of rumor that the powers that be at Sega of Japan (SoJ) may have already green lighted a Phantasy Star themed anime series!

Seriously now, what are you people waiting for? Go check out the official Phantasy Star 0 website and behold that which is to come for yourselves:

Lots of fresh PSO (or should that be PS0?) news to follow in the coming months!
